About We Do
We Do is a collective of Philadelphia comedians currently comprised of Garrett Smith, Robert Ecks and Pete Steele, who have, between the three of them, over sixteen years of live comedy experience. Formed in the Fall of 2013, We Do created and operated a very successful stand-up comedy show which took place every Tuesday night at Philadelphia's Medusa Lounge for over two and a half years. According to Philebrity.com, there were “few better places to witness the underground comedy scene in all its DIY glory...” While the show became a favorite performance spot for many local amateur comedians, it also attracted professional comedians and bigger names, such as Maria Bamford and Todd Glass, who have both dropped in to do sets on their show.
In the Spring of 2016, We Do took their show to the Art Dept., located in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood, to curate a showcase of the best comedic talent Philadelphia has to offer. Garrett, Robert and Pete delight in joining with all of their friends in Philadelphia's comedy scene to show the city that everything they love about comedy can be found a short walk, bike ride or subway ride away!
Garrett Smith always knows exactly who you mean when you start talking about that one guy from that one movie. Garrett is the co-host of I Like To Movie Movie, Philadelphia's premier podcast about movies, and the creator of Movie Movie Live, the movie trivia gameshow hosted at PhilaMOCA. He has produced shows for Good Good Comedy, hosted stand-up showcases at World Cafe Live, and was once told he looks like a skeleton that fucked Star Wars. He's been surviving on frozen pizza ever since.
Robert Ecks is a collection of atoms based out of Philadelphia. In MetroPhilly, he’s been described as a “non linear humorist.” Ecks was named the "Comedy Act of the Year (2014)" by Philebrity.com. Robert wrote and directed the short film “Daniel”, featured in the 2015 Philadelphia FringeArts Festival show Night Trolley. WP Johnson writes of Robert, "he has one of the most unusual voices in comedy," which is hopefully a compliment. Unfortunately Johnson also writes that Robert "is slow and awkward and strange.”
Pete Steele is a Philadelphia-based comedian. Stand-up comedy might be his true love, but he enjoys diving into improv and sketch comedy, as well as writing, directing and acting. He helped run one of the most successful open mics in Philadelphia for over two and a half years. He has produced a multitude of videos for local short film festival Phone It In. He also produces and runs multiple shows with local company Good Good Comedy, including "Ur Mom is Funny" and "Did You Bring a Clip?" He has been told by fellow comedians' significant others that his catch phrase, “Mm, mm...mm, mm, mm,” is often heard around their house, or dropped into casual conversation.
