Ever wonder the differences between an IPA and a Bock? What the heck a Cask is? Beer Tasting Bootcamp focuses on a very broad background of the four main beer ingredients in beer (hops, barley, water and yeast), followed by a more detailed discussion of how beer is evaluated for each category, with definitions of all of the markers involved for judgment (SRM, ABV, Aroma, Appearance, Flavor, Mouthfeel, Overall Impression, Comments, History, and Ingredients) This class would include 6, 2oz samples and rotate in themes, so you can continue to broaden your beer knowledge. For this class we'll be exploring some of the more earthy robust flavors specific to the fall.
About Home Brewed Events
Home Brewed Events is a brewing wonder couple made up of Meredith Rebar, whose interest in craft beer started when I was attending Penn State University and visiting Zeno’s Pub on a regular basis. She has been homebrewing for over four years and enjoy pushing the boundaries of beer styles. She's worked at Troegs Brewing Company in their Tasting Room and is an official member of the Pink Boots Society, which is for female brewers in the beer industry across the world. Her partner in crime, Garrett Williams started out drinking the same sort of thing you did, Lionshead, Old Milwakee, Yeungling etc. Thanks to the devoted efforts of some truly inspirational drinkers (Meredith amongst them), he now approaches beer like a 19th century British explorer- he finds new ones, take pictures, make notes and collect the trophies for like-minded explorers to “ooh” and “ahh” over. He's a Coffee Roaster by day and Brewer by night, bringing the wild safari of craft beer to the masses.
